Join us at the Sandpaper Factory for the gallery’s first opening, featuring the exhibit “Renaissance Women”, works by Shelley Layton and Renée Caouette. They invite you into their studios to see the life of an artist. Both bridge classical ideals of oil painting with today’s evolving aesthetics. Grounded in realism, Layton and Caouette express the world through the eyes of a renaissance woman - bringing their love for the classical into the modern age of art. They share a common thread in the use of warm tones with light and shadow, giving their paintings a mysterious and compelling quality. This makes their oeuvres relative to many artistic periods, and therefore timeless.

At the opening, enjoy light refreshments, jazz and experimental performances by the Simona Minns Jazz Trio, and explore the artists’ studios.
